Alan Shearer picks favorites for Premier League title

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has said Chelsea are the favorites to win the Premier League title this season, ahead of Manchester City.

Shearer made the statement ahead of the Premier League game between Chelsea and Man City on September 25 at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea currently lead the Premier League table with 13 points from five matches, while Man City sit in fifth place with 10 points.

« The race for the Premier League title has only just begun, but Chelsea already appear to be very difficult to stop, » Shearer told the BBC.

“Thomas Tuchel’s team is very impressive at the moment, but it has been since his arrival in January.

“Even when they’re not playing well or things are going badly – as was the case when Reece James was sent off at Anfield last month – Chelsea are still not giving much.

“As they showed in their brilliant 3-0 win at Tottenham on Sunday, the Blues have an extremely strong team and a very good manager too. « 

He adds: “Chelsea’s next test is against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but that doesn’t scare them. « 

“They beat City three times under Tuchel last season, including in the Champions League final. He’ll be ready for Pep Guardiola again, I’m sure. «
