After CF Montreal, the Crew would change its name

As CF Montreal did earlier this year, the Columbus Crew intends to change their name and visual identity.
According to what the daily « Columbus Dispatch » learned on Sunday, the Ohio squad will change its identity to become the Columbus SC.

The club will keep « the Crew » as a nickname.
This is reminiscent of the choice made by the Montreal team to abandon the name “Impact”. Like CF Montreal, the Columbus team will also change its logo. This will be in the shape of the Ohio flag with the word « Columbus » at the top of the image and the « SC » at the bottom.
« Recently, images have surfaced showing a new logo for the Columbus Crew, » the team said in a statement. The Crew and “Black and Gold” remain at the heart of our concerns. We continue to embrace and respect our heritage, while modernizing our brands as our club and the city of Columbus evolve. We look forward to revealing them in their entirety in the near future. ”
Also according to the « Columbus Dispatch », the main group of Crew supporters are angry and feel betrayed by the team. Another situation which recalls that of the organization of the Belle Province.
The Columbus club has been around since 1994 and is one of the founding teams of Major League Soccer. The Crew have won the MLS Cup twice, in 2008 and 2020.
