African Sports Journalist Award: Pape Diouf immortalized in Ivory Coast


The Pape Diouf Prize for African Sports Journalist was launched in Côte d’Ivoire in order to perpetuate the memory of the former president of OM.

To immortalize the Senegalese Pape Diouf, José Djati, an Ivorian sports journalist, decided to pay tribute to him by organizing the Prix “Pape Diouf, African sports journalist”. An initiative mentioned during a press conference held on Wednesday September 28, 2022, in a restaurant in Le Plateau, in Abidjan.

To this end, notes pulsn, the organizers have decided to perpetuate the memory of this great gentleman, a sports journalist before being a football manager. Note that the prize will be organized on November 5 and the champion will leave with the sum of 500,000 CFA francs.

Highlight the knowledge of sports journalists while celebrating the memory of an illustrious predecessor who installed his surname in memories. This is the objective of the Pape Diouf Prize for African Journalists devised by José Djati, an Ivorian sports journalist.

The Pape Diouf African Journalist Prize, the first edition of which starts in Abidjan, will be extended in future editions to several African countries, starting with Senegal, the country of origin of the illustrious deceased.

As a reminder, Pape Diouf died on March 31, 2020 in Dakar. Sports journalist then players’ agent, he was president of Olympique de Marseille from 2005 to 2009.
