Adam Frazier joins the Seattle Mariners
We knew that the Seattle Mariners intended to be in the action to improve their club… and here it is.
Adam Frazier heads to Washington State. In return, the Padres get reliever Ray Kerr and outfielder Corey Rosier.
The Padres had a surplus of positional players in the infield and now they’ve got rid of a last deadline acquisition.
As for the Mariners, they were in the race to pick up the guy last July. But there, they managed to get the former Pirates for 2022, he who will be a free agent in a year.
Frazier can play at second base and in all three fields. So I believe that if the club gets their hands on a Marcus Semien of this world, Frazier will have a super-utility role. Otherwise, I see him being a full time second baseman.
And in either case Abraham Toro is set to go play third base in 2022, his original position in the Majors.
The Mariners have a good outfield. Does the fact that they’ve been looking for Frazier denote that they don’t seem to be seriously in the running for Marcus Semien or some guy like that? I do not know.
Note that the rumors do not link Seattle to a big third baseman.

- Will Whit Merrifield be traded at that price by the Royals?
