Adam Driver will play Enzo Ferrari in the cinema
Actor Adam Driver has been chosen to bring the character of Enzo Ferrari to life in the biopic dedicated to the famous Italian entrepreneur, a film whose arrival on screens is scheduled for next year.
« Ferrari » is the name of this new feature film devoted to the « Commendatore », is adapted from the book by Brock Yates, « Enzo Ferrari – The Man and the Machine ». Michael Mann, who is directing the film (his first in nine years), co-wrote the screenplay with Troy Kennedy-Martin.
The story of “Ferrari” takes place during the summer of 1957. The manufacturer from Maranello is not yet the empire that we are today. The company founded in 1947 by Enzo Ferrari is even at its worst financially. To “get back in the race”, Enzo Ferrari decided to bet everything on the legendary Mille Miglia endurance race, hoping for a good result from his troops.
Michael Mann’s film also focuses on the private life of the Italian entrepreneur, who has just lost his son Dino due to a genetic disease (Duchenne muscular dystrophy). Dino Ferrari died on June 30, 1956 in Milan, at the age of 24.
Patrick Dempsey present at the casting
Adam Driver, whose first photos taken on the set of « Ferrari », are quite striking, will give the answer to several stars including Penelope Cruz (who will play Laura Dominica Garello, Enzo’s wife), and Patrick Dempsey.
« Dr Mamour » in « Grey’s Anatomy », who is also a racing driver and team boss, should find himself at ease in the atmosphere of « Ferrari » where he will play the role of Piero Taruffi, an Italian driver who evolved under the colors of Scuderia Ferrari from the end of the 1940s, and took part in particular in the Mille Miglia 1957 with the structure of Maranello.
The theatrical release of the film “Ferrari” is scheduled for fall 2023 in the United States.
