Accompanying sedentary people to practice a sport
How to (re)engage in sport to maintain good health: two local initiatives aimed at a sedentary public.
These are three S’s which sum up the operation: for Sport, Health and Seniors. The community of municipalities has been developing the 3S of aging well project on its territory, revived by the CDOS 86 (departmental Olympic and sports committee), since September 26th until April 24th, 2023. This is a free prevention program, alternating conferences themes (balance, diet, sleep and memory) and 16 physical practice sessions. It is aimed at people over 50 with or without health problems, who do not practice sports within an association in the territory and who need to resume physical activity in an appropriate manner.
activity take
After a first session in Lussac-Les-Chteaux, which brought together 23 people, the workshops take place in the Civaux sports hall, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. These workshops allow you to resume physical activity. In the long term, the objective is for this return to sporting activity to be permanent, beyond the free treatment.
Another initiative, the deployment of Peps, for prescription of physical exercise for health, across the territory of Sud-Vienne.
The local authority helps encourage sedentary people and/or people with health problems to improve their living conditions. In this, it relies on general practitioners as physical exercise prescribers and on local sports associations. These supervised and adapted activities can be yoga, archery, dance, football, swimming, gentle gymnastics, walking… to date, 24 associations have volunteered to welcome this new audience. Eleven sports leaders, volunteers and employees, will be trained from October 24th to 27th, to supervise these people to put an end to their sedentary lifestyle, taking into account the possible pathology of each one.
Also note that 27 municipalities have already applied to host a Sportez-vous bien event in 2023.
