This Wednesday, on behalf of the second day of the Champions League, AC Milan with four Frenchmen in its ranks – Mike Maignan (goalkeeper), Pierre Kalulu (central defender), Theo Hernandez (left side) and Olivier Giroud ( striker) – beat Dinamo Zagreb (3-1).
It was Giroud who opened the scoring from the penalty spot, following a foul on Leao, just before the break (45th). The Italians were quick to take off, through Alexis Saelemaekers, the Belgian international heading in a cross from Leao (47th).
The Croats, who had created the surprise by beating Chelsea (1-0) in the first match, quickly picked up thanks to the coiled shot of Mislav Orsic (56th). But they did not have time to hope, since after a call in the area, the center set back from Hernandez found Tommaso Pobega, who concluded under the bar (77th).
The Italians, still undefeated this season, thus take the lead in group E with 4 points, pending the Chelsea-Salzburg meeting (9 p.m.).
