This Sunday, no one was able to compete with Josef Newgarden at Road America in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES who was out for a drive in Wisconsin and offered himself a million dollar bonus for winning all three types of circuits on the calendar, an oval in Texas, an urban track in Long Beach and therefore on a road circuit at Road America.
Josef Newgarden took his revenge on the Road America layout. Last year, he was in the lead, but during the last restart he was overtaken by Álex Palou before having a mechanical problem and finishing beyond the top 20. This Sunday, no mechanical problem for the two-time Team Penske champion leaving Wisconsin in third place overall.
Under the checkered flag Josef Newgarden is ahead of Sweden’s Marcus Ericsson, who regains control of the championship. Alexander Rossi finished third ahead of Romain Grosjean and Colton Herta. Felix Rosenqvist, Scott McLaughlin, Graham Rahal, Scott Dixon and Christian Lundgaard complete the top 10.
Thanks to this success Josef Newgarden wins a million dollars for victories on the three types of tracks on the calendar. Half of this bonus will be shared between the driver and his team, while the other half will be donated to two charities of Josef Newgarden’s choice, Wags and Walks of Nashville and Serious Fun Children’s Network.
The ninth race of the season will take place on Sunday July 3 at the Mid-Ohio road course.
