A very overhauled PSG beats Orleans in a friendly match

This Saturday evening, in a preparation match, PSG, strongly reshaped, hardly beat Orleans (National), thanks to a goal from his rookie, Achraf Hakimi (63rd). The Moroccan international was making his comeback, after testing positive for Covid-19 last week. A success at the end of a two-speed performance, sluggish in the first period and then convincing after half-time.

Three days after barely beating (2-1) Augsburg (German Division 1), already at the Stade de la Source, the home of the Orleans club, PSG won its third victory of the preseason, one week before the Trophée des champions, on whose behalf he will challenge the champion of France, Lille, in Tel Aviv (Israel). Deprived of his stars, on vacation after the Copa América (Neymar, Marquinhos, Di Maria, Paredes) or the Euro (Donnarumma, Verratti, Mbappé, Kimpembe), Mauricio Pochettino was also forced to do without his star rookie, the Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, left to rest.

The entries of a few executives at the break made the difference

The Argentine coach, who extended his contract for one year on Friday, until 2023, had lined up a starting XI with few executives (Kehrer, Draxler, Icardi) and it was felt on the lawn. Despite the envy of his young titis, his team purred during the first act and the best opportunity was even Orléanaise, when Issa Soumaré (22nd) lost his duel with Letellier.

The entries after the break of several major players like Keylor Navas, Hakimi, Kurzawa, Idrissa Gueye and Ander Herrera changed the face of the meeting and Paris logically took the lead thanks to a cross strike from Hakimi, on a superb pass from Herrera (62nd). The capital club then controlled the end of the match, missing the break by Draxler (69th) and Gharbi (89th). But it still took a superb save by Navas from an acrobatic return from Lepaul (85th) to avoid another draw, after the one conceded last week against Chambly (National also, 2-2).
