A Lamborghini Gallardo fitted with a 1000 hp Toyota engine
The Lamborghini Gallardo is not necessarily what one might call a conventional car, especially with its V10 placed in the rear central position and with a particularly equivocal sound. But the model that interests us today, and which was seen at the SEMA Show, is perhaps even more extravagant.
While the Gallardo’s V10 is arguably one of the most exhilarating engines in car production, the tuners at Street Aero chose another engine over the V10 for their Gallardo, an engine well known to sports car enthusiasts, since ‘it’s about Toyota’s 2JZ six-cylinder. But it’s not the 2JZ as you know it, since Street Aero has simply decided to add two turbos in order to pass the symbolic milestone of 1000 horsepower.
The modifications don’t stop at the engine, as an anti-lag system has been added, thus keeping the turbo spinning and maintaining high boost pressure. The exhaust has been modified and made of titanium for its heat dissipation properties.
The rear of this somewhat special Gallardo incorporates a new aerodynamic kit with an oversized spoiler, diffuser and X-shaped fins that will soon house LEDs inspired by those seen on the Bugatti Bolide. The car also features a carbon fiber front end, including the bonnet, bumper and air intakes.
And as if that weren’t enough, this Lamborghini Gallardo has been equipped with a dedicated pushrod suspension system, like the one found on some race cars. Street Aero hasn’t commented on the performance of its « in-house » supercar, but with all that paraphernalia, it should do better than the original Gallardo and its 520 horsepower.
