Inter Miami FC head coach Tata Martino has offered a nice reward to his new star player, Lionel Messi.

The pilot of the Florida team announced on Tuesday that the Argentinian will wear the captain’s armband for the rest of the season.

The 36-year-old athlete did not miss his debut with his new team on Friday. Messi scored the winning goal from a free-kick in stoppage time as his side won 2-1 against Mexican club Cruz Azul. It was the first group stage match of the Leagues Cup.

The winner of the last FIFA World Cup also allowed the Miami team to savor a first victory in six games in all competitions. They are 5-14-3 in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Messi has signed up for two seasons with Miami, and this contract earns him between $50 and $60 million annually.
