a final deadline given to the club to reintegrate Limbombe before sanction

On Tuesday, FC Nantes was once again summoned by the LFP Legal Commission to explain the case of Anthony Limbombe, who has been training since September with the reserve. RMC Sport have obtained the decision notification which states that the club have until April 5 to reinstate the Belgian to the professional group.

The soap opera never stops. Anthony Limbombe, the biggest purchase in the history of FC Nantes (8 million euros), will he return to the professional group? For three weeks, the FCN has been summoned by the Legal Commission of the Professional Football League to allow the Belgian midfielder, who has been training since September with the reserve, to find the professional group trained by Antoine Kombouaré.

The latter categorically refuses to comply with the injunction of the LFP. “I am in my role, justified the Nantes coach on March 17 at a press conference. Today, it is only a sporting decision. He is not in the group because he is not fit. There are players ahead of him. I’ve put together a squad he’s not in. » Before adding: “I met him [Limbombe] last week to exchange with him, discuss. Especially to tell him, that with me, if he takes legal action, he will not join the group.” On Tuesday, the FCN was therefore once again summoned before the Legal Commission of the LFP to explain itself.

Tensions between Kombouaré and Kita

RMC Sport has obtained the notification of decision. Nantes clarified that « this situation resulted from a purely sporting decision by the head coach ». The FCN now has « a final deadline to reinstate the player, that is until the training of the first team scheduled for Tuesday, April 5 ». If Limbombe, who has not participated in a match in official competition with the FCN since March 2020, does not rejoin the pro group, the Nantes club is liable to a sanction, a heavy fine or even more, the lawyer having asked a withdrawal of points for non-compliance with the injunction of the LFP. The other solution would be an amicable separation, but that would have a cost.

The player is indeed still under contract with the Canaries until June 2024. In the meantime, internally, the soap opera is creating tensions between the coach, who does not want to give in, and his president, Waldemar Kita. According to RMC Sport, Limbombe is due to meet with Philippe Mao, the sports coordinator, on Friday morning. Asked, the FCN did not respond to RMC Sport.
