The location is no coincidence, on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), facing the Palais de la Méditerranée, where the truck was stopped on July 14, 2016.

This is where December 1, 2021 will be filed, a tree three meters high to pay tribute to the victims of the Nice attacks, whether it be that of July 14, 2016 or that of the Notre-Dame basilica of October 29, 2020. Special attention will also be paid to children.

« It is to bring a little light and joy in the eyes of the children and the population of Nice » indicates Jean-Claude Hubler, co-president of the association created two years ago.

Last year a first tree had been installed, it had unfortunately disappeared, hence the three meters height for this 2021 tree, « this one it will not leave ».

A mailbox to leave messages

This December 1, the people of Nice are therefore invited to decorate it, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.. Workshops will also be offered with artists, for example children can paint their own Christmas balls.

Many associations will be present, including youth football teams and a choir. In addition to the tree, a letterbox will be installed to leave messages for the families of the victims, “the letters will then be loaned to the future memorial museum of terrorism.  »
