Riqui Puig heads for MLS

Barça is one of the most active clubs in the transfer window. The Catalan club have attracted many players since the transfer window opened. But with his financial difficulties, he must also cut back. The leaders of the club are therefore busy finding exit doors for the players on whom Xavi does not count. Among them was Riqui Puig. The midfielder hasn’t been called up for the Blaugrana’s pre-season tour of the United States.

Precisely, aware of his situation, several MLS formations have come forward to recruit him. Including the Los Angeles Galaxy. Not long ago, AS and Mundo Deportivo explained that the California franchise was the most likely destination for Puig. Despite his status as a great hope, the latter did not have a very large number of offers, and was considering the proposal from the club coached by Greg Vanney.

Another nice move for the LA Galaxy

And Puig responded favorably to the LA Galaxy’s offer. And the club officially announced an agreement with and Barça for his signature. The 22-year-old will therefore discover MLS well. He will sign a contract that will extend over three and a half years, until the end of the 2025 season of the North American championship, with his new training.

The LA Galaxy therefore achieves a new nice move, after having already convinced Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini to sign in recent weeks, or even Douglas Costa several months ago. Especially since, unlike the latter, Puig is only 22 years old. He therefore represents a player of the future for his new club. Barca reserve the right to bring him back, however, as the Catalan club have announced that they have included a buyout clause in the deal. In case of the player’s future transfer to another club, the Catalans will also collect 50% of the sum.
