5 players who could explode in 2022

After a first game Thursday night between the Bills and the Rams, the other NFL franchises start their 2022 season from tonight. For the occasion, We Sport lists five players who could explode and change status during the next exercise.

Gabriel Davis (WR, Buffalo Bills)

2021 season: 35 receptions, 549 yards, 6 TDs

He has already played a game this season, but Gabriel Davis has everything to have a great season. Favorite target of Josh Allen on the long routes, the receiver is a real deep threat and recalled him at the start of the season against the Rams (4 receptions, 88 yards, 1 TD). Thanks to his speed and the spaces opened up by his teammate Stefon Diggs, Davis can rack up the yards and make this Bills attack an even more unstoppable machine.

Travis Etienne (RB, Jacksonville Jaguars)

Season 2021: white season

Travis Etienne didn’t play last year due to injury, but there is every reason to believe he can succeed in 2022. Designated starter in the backfield, he will find Trevor Lawrence with whom he played at Clemson in the NCAA. This duo was devastating, and it could also be in the NCAA. If Jacksonville does not have the best defensive line, Etienne can still assert himself as a threat on the ground and in the air. To the delight of his quarterback and his new coach.

Allen Lazard (WR, Green Bay Packers)

2021 season: 40 receptions, 513 yards, 8 TDs

This is perhaps the most obvious option on this list. With the departure of Davante Adams to the Raiders, Allen Lazard finds himself propelled to the position of No. 1 receiver. Rising to power for four years, his fifth year in the NFL could be one of explosion. If his association with Aaron Rodgers continues to work and he stands up to the pressure, the former Iowa State man can assert himself as the new engine of the Green Bay offense. A new status that he will have to conquer, he who has so far only exceeded the 500-yard barrier once in his career.

Xavier McKinney (S, New York Giants)

2021 season: 93 tackles, 5 interceptions, 10 passes defended

New York may have a difficult season, but Xavier McKinney can turn a corner in 2022. Already very prominent last season, the third-year player can become the leader of the backfield defensively, indeed the entire Giants defense. At just 23 years old, expectations are high for the safety, but the Alabama aluni has the cards in hand to succeed and, why not, get a first selection in the Pro-Bowl.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (LB, Cleveland Browns)

2021 season: 76 tackles including 3 for loss, 1.5 sacks, 4 QB hits

The arrival of Deshaun Watson in Cleveland almost made people forget that the Browns had talented players in their workforce. In defense, one of the players to watch will be the sophomore Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Rather interesting during his rookie season, JOK is promised a starting role and should see his importance increase in the middle of this defense. Failing to be recognized at its fair value, it could recall that it was one of steals announced from the 2021 Draft.

Louis Rousseau

The words « Minnesota Miracle » and « No-Call » are scratched from my vocabulary. My heart mourns the retirement of Drew Brees and the loneliness of RJ Barrett in Madison Square Garden.
