24H Daytona: an LMP2 best time in Free Practice 1

The IndyCar Series star shot in 1’49 »251 at the end of the session to lead by 0.016 seconds the #02 Cadillac DPi-VR of Earl Bamber’s Chip Ganassi Racing and the #10 Acura ARX-05 of Filipe Albuquerque.

Seven LMP2s are in the top 10 of the fastest times in this 90-minute session, which took place without a red flag. The #20 High Class Racing and #29 Racing Team Nederland Orecas completed the LMP2 Top 3.

The #13 AWA Duqueine D08 of Matt Bell was the quickest of the LMP3s, behind leaders GTD Pro and GTD. Mathieu Jaminet was the most prominent in GTD Pro, thanks to a time of 1:56.784 set by the Frenchman in the #9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The #75 SunEnergy1 Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, driven by Luca Stolz, leads the GTD class.

Forty-seven of the 61 cars entered set at least one time during the session which took place in persistent light rain, but without any major incident.
