24 hours of Le Mans. Corvette Racing happy to return to Sarthe. Sport

Deprived of the classic Le Mans last year, the victorious team at Daytona was impatient to return to Le Mans. “It’s always good to come back here, it’s important to ride on this circuit especially since we weren’t there last year,” explains Antonio Garcia.

For Jordan Taylor, six Mans participations, “It’s always a pleasure to come here. You might think it’s routine, but last year I wasn’t there and when you watch the race on TV you realize how much we miss the race. It’s good to come back. «

However, the reunion was not tender during the test day on Sunday with the trio: “We had an electronic problem, we had to change the engine. We wasted time, but we had to make sure everything was ok with the car. The team is working hard, and we tried to make up for it. The car is competitive ”, says German Nicky Catsburg.

Even if incidents on their car were recorded this weekend. The drivers have no doubts about the performance of their car. The Corvette C8.R already competing in 2020 is making its grand debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

According to the Spanish pilot Antonio Garcia, « It is better in every way compared to the C7.R » Another important element for Jordan Taylor, “It is now a rear mid-engine. We feel more secure and we have the feeling of greater reliability. The older generation was more complex, we had a smaller margin, they could not forgive a pilot error. You feel more confident when you attack with the C8.R. With her we won the American Championship last year and the 24 Hours of Daytona this year. We have done a lot of work on the simulator. We have different set-up ideas that we will be testing during this week of testing. «

Nicky Catsburg on his side hopes “Have some interesting laps, get back in the car and see where we are compared to the other drivers. It’s hard to judge but we are positive. We feel good in the car. Our team is in good shape, especially since we have already won the 24 Hours of Daytona this year. What is certain is that we have a very good car, which drives fast, as we have seen in the United States. I have good hope ! «
