Kwizera, 22, is from the University of Utah Valley. MLS referred to him as a winger during their draft webcast.

He scored five goals and recorded 11 assists in 17 games last season with the Utah Valley Wolverines.

Kwizera posted a highlight video on her Instagram account a few weeks ago.

Obviously, the club were confident they could fill their needs a little later. Sporting director Olivier Renard had the option of speaking at 11e rank, but he ultimately traded that choice in exchange for $ 100,000 in general allowance money.

While MLS’s SuperDraft is rarely packed with future big stars, it does at the very least add depth to its roster.

Recently, the Bleu-blanc-noir did not make this draft his priority, rightly or wrongly. Three players of his current formation were notably acquired via transactions, while they were available in the draft: Kamal Miller, Mason Toye and Alistair Johnston.

Montreal did not draft in 1D round since the 2020 auction, when he picked Jeremy Kelly at the 9e position. However, he instantly traded it to the Colorado Rapids for general allowance money.

But Vassili Cremanzidis, Olivier Renard’s assistant, told Press a few weeks ago that the club wanted to « improve [son] The college’s NCAA screening « he had » changed things internally.  »

Renard and Cremanzidis also have the 11e choice of 3e round in this draft.

In first place, Charlotte FC chose midfielder Ben Bender of the University of Maryland.

“It’s wonderful, I know the fans are excited in Charlotte,” Bender said. I can’t wait to get started.  »
