10 M€, a huge deal about to close
ASSE Mercato: AS Saint-Étienne should pocket a big check in the event of a new transfer of Wesley Fofana, announced to Chesea.
ASSE Mercato: A big check in sight thanks to Wesley Fofana
In search of cash, AS Saint-Étienne could receive an unexpected check at the end of the transfer window. So far the Greens have made only three sales. Lucas Gourna-Douath left ASSE for RB Salzburg for 15 million euros. The transfer of Denis Bouanga to Los Angeles FC in MLS brought 4 million euros to the Greens. Which also pocketed 1 million euros following the sale of Zaydou Youssouf to Famalicao. For the rest, the Loire club recorded many free departures of players, including executives, at the end of the contract. With the transfer window drawing to a close, the resident of Geoffroy-Guichard could still receive a big check thanks to Wesley Fofana. The central defender left Saint-Étienne for Leicester City in 2020 for 40 million euros, excluding bonuses.
A new jackpot in sight for the Greens
Still under contract with the Foxes until 2027, the central defender could join another Premier League cador. The former Stéphanois could sign for Chelsea in the coming days. The Blues could break the bank to secure the services of the defender trained in Saint-Étienne. An amount of 95 million euros is mentioned by the English press as part of this deal. The former ASSE would then become the most expensive central defender in history ahead of the controversial Mancunian Harry Maguire.
The Greens would also come out on top should the Foxes and Blues agree. They could pocket up to 10 million euros in the event of the resale of their former colt. But the Loire club will not collect this amount in one installment. It will be paid by Leicester according to the different payment deadlines. In the meantime, the Greens are following developments in this case with great interest.
